blog: hair blowing in the breeze

Mia totally came up with this joke after watching Cabin in the Woods. But I had to stay up doing something (we opened up a bottle of wine and I didn't want it to go bad) so I made this out of it.
In case you haven't seen Doctor Horrible... you won't get it. Original picture via.

reblog: Giada vs. Paula Deen

This is fun. Compare the first ten seconds of Giada against the first ten seconds of Paula Deen.

Check out the reblog post.

photos: isla vista sunset

Also taken for my photography class, here are some pictures of the Isla Vista beach taken by the Nikon FG. Thanks to my friends for willing to be in photos.

photos: the morning after

Alright, here's the step in catching up on uploading all the photos. This is from an album called "The Morning After"I took for a photography class at UCSB. It was taken on my Nikon FG.

blog: the blog starts here

Hello, everyone.

So by now I've probably had about ten blogs. And none of them really clicked. I was having a difficult time sort of organizing different pages and I caught drawing a duck a day at one point-- it was a mess. Which is why I've made this blog, the OmarNajamPublicPrivateBlog where I'll be posting a handful of things. In short, here's a breakdown of the blog pages:

writing- where I'll be posting any writing projects I'm working on as well as "morning pages" which I'll do every morning (hopefully) by writing three paragraphs to get the day started.

movies- where I'll be posting any video projects I am working on/worked on/want to show to the world. that's it. it's a really easy page to grasp.

photos- where I'll be posting all the photographs I take with my Canon 60D and, if CVS stops swallowing my film, my Nikon FG. I'm going to be playing catch up for the first few days because I have a bunch of pictures on my computer that I want to immortalize through the internet.

music- where I'll post any songs I have written or worked on. that's all.

projects- now this is a fun page. I'll be posting about any ongoing projects (film projects, etc) AS WELL AS the progress of my monthly "I'm Getting Smarter Again" projects. IGSA is an initiative I want to start because I feel like after leaving college- and non vocational educational institutions in general- I've lost a lot of my general knowledge. so each month (starting on the 5th, which, if you know me, you'll understand why) I'll take a topic and learn about it. it's like when you had whale week in fourth grade. each day, I'll try to dedicate an hour to researching or practicing the topic and each Friday, I'm going to try to make something inspired by the topic (song, comic, paper mache whale, etc). now here's the fun part: it's totally open. so anyone who wants to get smart again can do the same and we can all discuss it on the projects page. a list of upcoming topics is on the projects page itself.

reblog- phew, that last explanation was nuts. the reblog page is where I'll be posting things from other blogs. so yeah, a really lame version of the Huffington Post.

And of course, there's the blog itself where I'll be posting everything that gets uploaded to the other pages (pictures, movies, etc) as well as, you know, normal blog things: thoughts, funny images I make, screenshots of Draw Something.

There's not going to be any regularly timed upload. Some days I'll be reblogging like a madman, and then I'll disappear for weeks only to reemerge with a ton of videos.

I'm sorta like Obi-Wan Kenobi in that way. Two quick thoughts: this guy defends the galaxy, maybe the universe from terrible evil three times in a row (ish, the second film doesn't really have a ton of doom and gloom aside from Anakin's pubertic growing pains) and then retires in Death Valley for days. I dunno, I think by that point you've made yourself an MVP in your own mind and you gotta stay on payroll (yeah, nerds, I know he's technically exiled. But if you can hide in a SHIP full of droids, you can find a way to stay employed). Second thought: really, Luke? It takes you fifteen minutes to connect Ben Kenobi and Obi-Wan Kenobi. The kid's got heart but his wits leave something to be desired.

Anyhow, welcome to the blog! Check it out, enjoy and comment. That is if anyone even sees this.
